Doctors with Africa CUAMM

Founded in 1950, Doctors with Africa CUAMM was the first non-governmental organization focused on healthcare to be recognized by the Italian government. It is now the country’s leading organization working to protect and improve the well-being and health of vulnerable communities in sub-Saharan Africa. The NGO implements long-term cooperation programs intervening also in situations of emergency to ensure that services are available to all.

Doctors with Africa CUAMM is currently active in 9 countries in sub-Saharan Africa (Angola, Central African Republic, Ethiopia, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda) with some 3.500 workers on the field, including 273 Italians. Doctors with Africa supports 21 hospitals, 116 districts (in activities related to public health, maternal and child health, infectious diseases and training programs), 4 nursing and midwifery schools (in South Sudan, Uganda and Ethiopia) and one university in Mozambique.
