Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse provides comprehensive, safe, and patient-centered outpatient and emergency nursing care at Tihut Medium Clinic. Working under the supervision of the Clinic Head / Medical Doctor, the role supports physicians during clinical service delivery, executes nursing care plans, manages infection prevention protocols, and participates in emergency response, HIV service integration, and community-oriented healthcare.


Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical & Outpatient Care: Perform rapid patient assessments, monitor vital signs, prioritize care using triage principles, and assist physicians during consultations, examinations, and minor surgeries.
  • Emergency & Life-Saving Support: Stabilize critically ill patients, initiate emergency interventions, and ensure emergency room readiness (equipment, oxygen flowmeters, and emergency drugs).
  • Nursing Procedures: Execute safe medication administration per the Ten Rights, wound care, suturing assistance, NGT insertion, urinary catheterization, IV therapy, and family planning services.
  • Infection Prevention & Control (IPC): Apply IPC standards consistently, clean, disinfect, and sterilize medical equipment per clinic protocols.
  • HIV & Public Health Integration: Offer and perform HIV Testing Services (HTS), ensure proper linkage for positive individuals, and support NCD and SRH service integration.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, complete, and timely patient records in charts, EMR systems, and HMIS reporting formats.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, laboratory staff, and pharmacists, participating in clinical audits, quality improvement (QI) initiatives, and continuous professional development (CPD).

Educational Qualification & Experience Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in Nursing from a recognized institution (valid and renewed professional nursing license required).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in OPD, emergency nursing, and minor surgery.
    • Advantage: Experience in public, private, or NGO-supported health programs (particularly HIV programs).
  • Required & Preferred Certifications:
    • HIV Testing & Comprehensive Care
    • Comprehensive Family Planning
    • Infection Prevention & Patient Safety
    • Emergency Life-Saving Skills

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Clinical Skills: Strong clinical assessment, triage, and medication administration skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in medical emergency response, IPC standards, and patient counseling.
  • Interpersonal Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities under pressure.
  • Skill Tags: Strong clinical and diagnostic skills, clinical nursing, public health, psychology, counseling, social work, health sciences, and nursing.
