Job Description

CIFOR-ICRAF

The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and World Agroforestry (ICRAF) envision a more equitable world where trees in all landscapes, from drylands to the humid tropics, enhance the environment and well-being for all. CIFOR and ICRAF are non-profit science institutions that build and apply evidence to today’s most pressing challenges, including energy insecurity and the climate and biodiversity crises.

Over a combined total of 65 years, we have built vast knowledge on forests and trees outside of forests in agricultural landscapes (agroforestry). Using a multidisciplinary approach, we seek to improve lives and to protect and restore ecosystems. Founded in 1993 and 1978, CIFOR and ICRAF are members of CGIAR, a global research partnership for a food-secure future.

Overview

The Global Landscapes Forum (GLF) was first launched in 2013 by CIFOR-ICRAF with core partners including UNEP and the World Bank. Today, the GLF—with 35 of the world’s leading development and environmental organizations engaged as Charter Members—has become the world’s largest knowledge-led forum on sustainable landscapes.

Since 2013, the GLF has connected more than 30,000 organizations, 1.4 million youth, and 154 governments, reaching more than 4 billion people. The GLF has evolved to scale local knowledge towards ecosystem restoration through sustainable finance, learning, youth, and locally-led development (GLFx).

Duties and Responsibilities

The objective of this assignment is to coordinate the design and delivery of GLF’s knowledge-led convenings while strengthening the integration of evidence, narratives, and partnerships.

1. Thought Leadership, Narrative Development and Knowledge Framing

  • Coordinate the development of strategic narratives positioning GLF across climate, biodiversity, and land use.
  • Translate evidence and emerging insights into clear, compelling framing for convenings and outreach.
  • Ensure alignment of knowledge and narratives with GLF’s Theory of Change (ToC) and MELIA framework.
  • Shape and coordinate proposals and concept development with management and program focal points.
  • Identify emerging trends to inform organizational positioning and priority setting.

2. Strategic Convening and Knowledge Integration

  • Lead the design and delivery of GLF flagship convenings, including agenda-setting and thematic framing.
  • Synthesize insights across GLF programs (Community & Action, Learning, Sustainable Finance) and research to inform agendas.
  • Co-design narrative strategies with the Digital Communications team to translate knowledge into broader influence.
  • Facilitate innovative and outcome-oriented formats that enable co-creation and collaboration.

3. Policy, Finance and Practice Influence & Strategic Partnerships

  • Align convenings and knowledge outputs to strengthen contributions to policy and finance outcomes.
  • Support positioning of GLF in global and regional policy processes (e.g., Rio Conventions).
  • Work with the Partnerships Officer and Regional Coordinators to leverage Charter Members for impact.

4. Team Coordination and Delivery Oversight

  • Coordinate and guide the Knowledge Team, providing clarity on priorities, roles, and workflows.
  • Work with the MELIA Officer to ensure convenings generate and feed evidence into the framework.
  • Maintain oversight of delivery processes while ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

Education, Knowledge and Experience

  • Education: Master’s degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years managing knowledge-led convenings (digital and hybrid) engaging diverse stakeholders (policy, research, civil society, youth, finance, and private sector).
  • Leadership: Proven experience managing teams and coordinating multidisciplinary projects in international contexts.
  • Communication: Experience in knowledge communication—translating technical, scientific, or Indigenous knowledge into accessible formats.
  • Policy Interface: Experience working at the science-policy-practice interface (e.g., SDGs, CBD, UNFCCC, UNCCD).
  • Languages: Fluency in English is essential; others (French, Spanish, Indonesian, German) are an advantage.

Terms and Conditions

  • Position Type: Consultancy
  • Duration: June 2026 to May 2027 (12 months), with possibility of renewal.
  • Work Location: Remote
  • Application Deadline: 03 May 2026
