Job Summary

To implement well-defined standard logistics/supply chain processes and activities to enable effective delivery of goods and services for all delivery modalities.

Key Responsibilities

  • To coordinate with WFP suppliers on the local purchase production and readiness quantity to be uplifted.
  • To Receive the approved dispatch plan, form the CO Supply Chain for each location where the food to be dispatched.
  • To ensure the transport plan by fleet or commercial receive from CO Logistics for loading plan and timely delivery to the destination as per the approved dispatch plan.
  • To ensure sufficient storage capacity available at Bahir Dar transit hub, in case the food need to be uplift from the factory and keep in transit hub before dispatch to the destination.
  • To ensure all the dispatches are recorded in LESS, online waybills issued as per the approve uplifting plan.
  • To ensure the Bag Marking perform before the uplifting, if the food dispatch to the FDPs
  • To gather the update information, regarding the routes for each dispatch hub locations, before the dispatches and inform the fleet or transporters.
  • To coordinate and follow up with destination hub on the arrival of the food commodities.
  • To conduct market assessments and engagement with entities to assess and identify potential logistics service providers.
  • To support in the implementation of WFP deliveries / convoys in Amhara region: receive trucks in Bahir Dar coming from upstream (Semira/ Adama /Djibouti).
  • To prepare and report the daily stock uplift from the factories.
  • To ensure and follow up all the vender invoicing process specially for the fleet truck washing before uplifting the commodities from the factory and update as per the WFP IPSAS.
  • Oversight of the commodities accounting and ensure all the WFP corporate tools are follow and used.
  • Ensure all fuel transaction for the refuelling of WFP fleet trucks recorded in FMS.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of secondary school education. A university degree in a related field is desirable.
  • At least five years of progressively responsible work experience in the fields of Logistics / warehousing in emergency operation.
  • Fluency in oral and written English and Amharic is required.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Experience in maintaining corporate systems and running queries on logistics activities from operational and commodity accounting point of view.
  • Experience in transport allocation and planning.
  • Experience in financial planning, budgeting for logistics and reporting.
  • Experience in working in the humanitarian/non-profit field.
