Job Description


VisionFund Micro Finance Institution (S.C) is an institution established according to proclamation No. 40/96 which currently amended to 626/2009 to provide financial services to the productive poor in the rural and urban areas of Ethiopia. VisionFund is currently operating in five of the regional states of the country.

VisionFund MFI is currently looking for candidates for the Security Guard role. The successful candidates will have skills and experience that meet the following requirements.

Position: Security Guard

Opening Date: April 27, 2026

Required Number: 18

Place of Work: Head Office, Central East Region (Main Branch) and Ware House

Terms of Employment: Permanent

Salary: As per the institution salary scale

Closing Date: May 07, 2026

Job Summary

Under the close supervision of the Security Supervisor, the security guard protects the institution premises and property from theft, damage and vandalism.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  • Control and monitor access points by verifying visitor credentials, checking identification, and issuing guest passes
  • Checks that the company's employees do not bring unauthorized items and property into and out of the company
  • Controls that guests do not bring unauthorized items and property into and out of the company
  • Protect personnel, property, and assets from potential threats including theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access
  • At the main entrance gate, asks for the identification of foreign guests and employees of the company and verifies their identity
  • Ensures that vehicles entering and leaving the company are licensed and that they are not carrying unauthorized items
  • Opens doors for vehicles; ensures that they are parked in their assigned areas
  • Ensures that office lights are turned off after working hours; doors and windows are locked and water taps are turned off
  • Informs the company's managers about the situation when an accident occurs in the company; requests the assistance of the police and defense forces in a timely manner
  • Handles the equipment given for protection with care and attention; uses it only for the company's work; takes the necessary precautions to ensure that it does not fall into the hands of unauthorized persons
  • Upon completion of the guard shift, properly hands over the assets under protection and the guard area to the successor
  • In the event of a fire in the company, tries to extinguish it using fire extinguishers; if unable to do so, requests the assistance of the fire brigade, the police and other government agencies
  • Performs daily duties in accordance with the rules and regulations of occupational safety
  • Informs the supervisor of any activities that pose a safety risk within the territory of the organization
  • Performs other similar duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

A) Education/Training

  • Completed 8th grade, basic military training

B) Experience

  • 2 years of work experience

C) Technical and Other Skills

  • Ability to disassemble and assemble weapons
  • Ability to follow instructions and orders
  • Good physical fitness
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Knowledge of security systems and emergency procedures as well as customer care
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • May require shift work, including nights, weekends, and holidays
