Job Summary
The Protection, Gender, and PSEA Officer is responsible for providing strategic and technical support to ensure the effective mainstreaming of safeguarding principles, gender equality, and protection across all WFP‑supported IDP project operational areas. The role involves leading gender and protection components throughout the project cycle, strengthening the capacity of staff and partners, and ensuring the integration of safeguarding within all interventions.
Major Responsibilities
Program/Project Planning and Implementation
- Coordinate program activities to align with objectives and donor requirements.
- Monitor progress, identify challenges, and develop solutions for effective implementation.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including reports and meeting minutes.
- Lead the implementation of safeguarding, gender, and protection activities in collaboration with consortium members.
- Ensure protection and gender-specific indicators and tools are included in concept notes and proposals.
- Lead programmatic assessments, including gender/protection analysis and monitoring, to inform strategy and advocacy.
- Facilitate focus group discussions and interviews to address the needs of diverse groups (women, men, boys, girls, and people with disabilities).
Operational and Technical Guidance (CFRM)
- Lead the implementation of Safeguarding and Gender activities within food assistance projects.
- Ensure SGBV and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) issues are handled sensitively according to international guidelines.
- Provide technical support and relevant manuals to the CFRM (Community Feedback and Response Mechanism) team.
Coordination, Monitoring, and Reporting
- Collaborate with Program and MEAL teams to integrate cross-cutting issues into programming.
- Conduct on-site visits to monitor implementation quality and provide technical advice to partner staff.
- Produce regular reports on safeguarding policy implementation, reviews, and audits.
- Represent WVE in Protection Working Groups (PWG), PSEA network meetings, and consortium forums.
Training and Capacity Building
- Enhance the capacity of project staff, partners, and stakeholders in mainstreaming Gender, Protection, and Safeguarding.
- Ensure all technical staff and incentive workers comply with mandatory policies (Code of Conduct, Safeguarding, Anti-Fraud).
Job Requirements
Education & Certification
- Required: MA/BA Degree in Social Science, Social Work, Gender Studies, or a related field.
- Required: Certificate in specialized training related to Gender, Safeguarding, PSEA, and inclusion programming.
Professional Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in Gender, Child Protection, and Safeguarding program design and management.
- Proven knowledge of mainstreaming protection in food assistance and gender integration.
- Familiarity with gender markers, safeguarding policies, and best practices in protection mainstreaming.

Working Environment / Conditions
- Location: Field-based with frequent travel within the operation area.
